Awaati Water Battle is a ride located in Awa. It opened in with the park in 2022 and received scenic enhancements for the 2023 and 2026 seasons. Taking its name from the Aukipi word for "Otter", the water cannon boat battles aboard the Awaati boats serve as a non-violent way of settling disputes among the Awa. Two water cannons installed along the perimeter would allow passing guests to spray boats going along the course.
In its original 2022 form, the attraction was a pure open water expanse to put all focus on the competitive water shooting aspect, though the park's low attendance would make this impractical. Simple floating props like plastic ducks and gators and artificial seaweed were briefly installed in the gaps between the boat trough, though these wouldn't last. For the next season, the gaps would be filled in to create rocky islands and sandbars for the boats to navigate around. Props along the island included seagulls, old ruins, log structures, palm trees with a treasure chest beach placed at the end of the course. This would be further built up for the 2026 season, with behind the scenes pictures showing larger animal figures such as sea turtles, seahorses, giant clams and an awaati being constructed.
Trivia
- The 2023 props were produced in collaboration with a University of Nebraska Theme Park Design engineering student group.
